Dr. Richard Marrs is a double board-certified Obstetrician, Gynecologist, Reproductive Endocrinologist, and Infertility Specialist in Los Angeles. He earned an MD from the University of Texas in 1974 and a Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility from the University of Southern California. Dr. Marrs served as an Intern and Resident Obstetrician and Gynecologist at the University of Texas. He is a Chief Medical Officer at Santa Monica Fertility. 1. Dr. Marrs helped to develop the first IVF program at USC with the pioneers in the industry such as Drs. Bob Edwards, Patrick Steptoe, Ian Johnston.
2. During his fellowship training, he acquired skills in cell culture; studied the ultrasound monitoring of follicle development; and along with Drs. Vargyas and March developed ovarian stimulation protocols; all of which would play essential roles in establishing this country’s second In Vitro Fertilization program in 1981.
