About Dr. Joseph E. Martin
Dr. Joseph E. Martin has been a board-certified Obstetrician, Gynecologist, and Medical Director of the Fertility Center of San Antonio since 1986. He earned an MD from the University of Texas in Galveston, Texas in 1963 and training in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He also completed a FACOG degree. He provides a wide range of treatments including In Vitro Fertilization, Intrauterine Insemination, Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection, and Frozen Embryo Transfer.
Dr. Martin served as an Intern at Herman Hospital in Houston, Texas from 1963 to 1964, as a Captain in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1966. He was also an Instructor and Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He is a member of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine and the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society.
Dr. Joseph has attended thousands of cycles (IVF, GIFT, ZIFT), and several thousand cycles of ovulation induction with intrauterine insemination. The Fertility Center of San Antonio was one of the first programs in the country to be office-based and has had many first events, including the first ICSI pregnancy in the Southwest. He has been honored with a 2017 Top Doctor Award. He has served as Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Methodist Hospital. He helped form the Fertility Program at Methodist Hospital in 1986 and served as its Medical Director until 1990.
